Pillars that Maketh a True Marketer

I trust you’re starting to understand the foundation upon which the Marketing Spirit is based.

In business sales transactions are important but relationships between people are critical; indeed, the latter underpins so much in relation to the former!

Selling and marketing are not the same; the former is an event, the latter a lifestyle; the former is what we do, the latter and who we are.

The Marketing Spirit, quite simply, is about people. It’s about putting people ahead of things, most especially money…because people matter!

You/me/us/them/they/we are NOT commodities to be used and abused by the ‘system’ purely for profit. But that’s what it’s come to in these times of ‘extreme capitalism’.

Extreme capitalism is a dog of a system (with apologies to dog lovers); it’s C.R.A.P.

And it’s in big trouble; the proof is in the media daily; look at the banking Royal Commission and what it’s uncovering – as money creators, they sit at the base of the economy; yet their behaviour is disgraceful, including deliberate deception and fraud.

Pillars of a true marketer:

These must include – humility, serving, giving, compassion, caring, vision, trust, integrity, generosity, gratitude and excellence.

These character traits or values are not ‘natural’ in humans; they must be learned, understood, practiced, believed and then implemented.

Such pillars emanate from LOVE – love of serving; of what you do; of who you are; of making a difference in the world, of building something, of impacting lives, etc.

In ‘The Wealth of Nations [1776] economist Adam Smith declared:

“Every individual…neither intends to promote the public interest, nor is promoting it; he intends only his own security; and by directing that industry in such a manner as its produce may be of the greatest value, he intends only his own gain; and led by an invisible hand to promote an end which was no part of his intention”

242 years later, nothing has changed; looking out for numero uno is the basic driver of life in the marketplace because the default human position is to take, not to give!

GOOD NEWS:

My thoughts won’t change the macro situation, the big picture, the economy, the marketplace, the ‘system’ and are not intended to.

My thoughts are to help improve YOUR micro situation – the opportunity YOU have right now in YOUR marketplace; and YOUR ability to prosper when ‘it’ hits the fan.

Believe me, your fortunes can change literally in an instant, IF your heart is right; your mindset is right; and your focus is right.
