King Solomon’s Wisdom for Business Owners

The wise King Solomon lived around 2,700 years ago.

Remember, he was the guy that requested a sword to cut the disputed baby in half, knowing full well the real mother would never allow this to happen.

He owned some fabulous gold mines, yielding hundreds of tons of metal per year; these mines have been the stuff of legend; of stories and movies.

He also wrote some 3,000 Proverbs [i.e. common sense lessons].

The nation he led desperately needed practical instruction in life matters; in work; in business; in handling money and relating to others because times were tough.

Some of Solomon’s Proverbs that apply in our businesses and lives today:

“Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding”

“Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding…”

“Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house [business]”

“Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds”

“Where there is no vision, the people perish…”

“Pride goeth before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall”

“He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread [prosper]; but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding”

“How much better it is to get wisdom than gold; understanding…than silver”

“A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches…”

“He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver…”

How might his wisdom apply to OUR lives and businesses?

…We need more UNDERSTANDING especially in relation to marketing

…Did you do your homework thoroughly before going into business?

…Do you really understand the key numbers that control your business?

…Does your vision make peoples’ lives better by improving your industry,  business, and community? Or is it just about the money? Indeed, do you have a vision?

Interesting isn’t it…nothing seems to have changed in all those years!
